जय गणेश गिरिजा सुवन, मंगल करण कृपाल। दीनन के दुख दूर करि, कीजै नाथ निहाल॥

Transliteration: Jaya Gaṇeśa Girijā suvan, maṅgala karaṇa kṛpāla। dīnan ke dukh dūr kari, kījai nātha nihāl॥

Transliteration: Jaya jaya Śrī Śanideva prabhu, sunahu vinaya mahārāja। karahu kṛpā he Ravi tanaya, rākhu jan kī lāj॥

Meaning: Victory to you, O Lord Shani Dev! Listen to our humble prayers, O great king. O son of the Sun, show your mercy and protect the honor of your devotees.

जयति जयति शनिदेव दयाला। करत सदा भक्तन प्रतिपाला॥ चारि भुजा, तनु श्याम विराजै। माथे रतन मुकुट छवि छाजै॥

Transliteration: Jayati jayati Śanideva dayāla। karat sadā bhaktan pratipāla॥ chāri bhuja, tanu śyām virājai। māthe ratan mukuṭ chhavi chhājai॥

Meaning: Victory, victory to compassionate Shani Dev, who always protects his devotees. He has four arms, a dark-hued body, and a radiant jeweled crown on his head.

परम विशाल मनोहर भाला। टेढ़ी दृष्टि भृकुटि विकराला॥ कुण्डल श्रवण चमाचम चमके। हिये माल मुक्तन मणि दमके॥

Transliteration: Param viśāl manohar bhālā। ṭeṛhī dṛṣṭi bhṛkuṭi vikarālā॥ kuṇḍal śravaṇ chamācham chamke। hiye māl muktan maṇi damke॥

Meaning: His broad and handsome forehead is striking, his gaze is intense and his brows are fierce. Earrings shine on his ears, and a pearl necklace sparkles on his chest.

कर में गदा त्रिशूल कुठारा। पल बिच करैं अरिहिं संहारा॥ पिंगल, कृष्णो, छाया नंदन। यम, कोणस्थ, रौद्र, दुख भंजन॥

Transliteration: Kar meṁ gadā triśūl kuṭhārā। pal bich karai arinhi saṁhārā॥ Piṅgal, Kṛṣṇo, Chhāyā nandan। Yam, Koṇastha, Raudra, duḥkha bhañjan॥

Meaning: He holds a mace, trident, and axe in his hands, destroying enemies in an instant. He is called Pingala, Krishna, Chhaya Nandan, Yama, Konastha, Raudra, and remover of sorrows.

सौरि, मन्द, शनि, दश नामा। भानु पुत्र पूजनहि सब कामा॥ जापर प्रभु प्रसन्न हवैं जाहीं। रंकहुँ राव करैं क्शण माहीं॥

Transliteration: Sauri, Mand, Śani, daś nāmā। Bhānu putra pūjanahi sab kāmā॥ Jāpar prabhu prasanna havaiṁ jāhīṁ। raṅkahūṁ rāva karaiṁ kṣaṇa māhīṁ॥

Meaning: He is known by ten names: Sauri, Mand, Shani, etc. As the son of the Sun, his worship fulfills all desires. When Shani Dev is pleased, he can make a pauper a king in an instant.

पर्वतहू तृण होइ निहारत। तृणहू को पर्वत करि डारत॥ राज मिलत बन रामहिं दीन्हयो। कैकेइहुँ की मति हरि लीन्हयो॥

Transliteration: Parvatahū tṛṇa hoi nihārat। tṛṇahū ko parvata kari ḍārat॥ Rāj milat ban Rāmahiṁ dīnhayo। Kaikeiyūṁ kī mati hari līnhayo॥

Meaning: He can make a mountain seem like a blade of grass and vice versa. He caused Lord Rama to lose his kingdom and go to the forest by influencing Kaikeyi’s mind.

बनहूँ में मृग कपट दिखाई। मातु जानकी गई चुराई॥ लषणहिं शक्ति विकल करिडारा। मचिगा दल में हाहाकारा॥

Transliteration: Banahūṁ meṁ mṛga kapaṭ dikhāī। mātu Jānakī gaī churāī॥ Lashaṇahiṁ śakti vikal kari ḍārā। machigā dal meṁ hāhākārā॥

Meaning: He created the illusion of the deer in the forest, leading to Sita’s abduction. He caused Lakshman to be struck down, creating panic in Rama’s army.

रावण की गति-मति बौराई। रामचन्द्र सों बैर बढ़ाई॥ दियो कीट करि कंचन लंका। बजि बजरंग बीर की डंका॥

Transliteration: Rāvaṇ kī gati-mati baurāī। Rāmachandra soṁ bair baḍhāī॥ Diyo kīṭ kari kanchan Laṅkā। baji Bajarang vīr kī ḍaṅkā॥

Meaning: He made Ravan’s mind deluded and increased his enmity with Lord Rama. He turned golden Lanka to ashes through Hanuman’s might.

नृप विक्रम पर तुहिं पगु धारा। चित्र मयूर निगलि गै हारा॥ हार नौंलखा लाग्यो चोरी। हाथ पैर डरवायो तोरी॥

Transliteration: Nṛp Vikram par tuhiṁ pagu dhārā। citra mayūr nigali gai hārā॥ Hār naulakhā lāgyo chorī। hāth pair ḍarvāyo torī॥

Meaning: You cast your glance on King Vikram, causing his defeat by a magical peacock. He was accused of stealing a precious necklace and was bound in fear.

भारी दशा निकृष्ट दिखायो। तेलहिं घर कोल्हू चलवायो॥ विनय राग दीपक महँ कीन्हयों। तब प्रसन्न प्रभु ह्वै सुख दीन्हयों॥

Transliteration: Bhārī daśā nikṛṣṭ dikhāyo। telahiṁ ghar kolhū chalvāyo॥ Vinay rāg dīpak mahaṁ kīnhayo। tab prasanna prabhu hvai sukh dīnhayo॥

Meaning: You imposed a severe period on him, making him work the oil mill at home. When he sang the Deepak raga with humility, you were pleased and granted him happiness.

हरिश्चंद्र नृप नारि बिकानी। आपहुं भरें डोम घर पानी॥ तैसे नल पर दशा सिरानी। भूंजी-मीन कूद गई पानी॥

Transliteration: Harishchandra nṛp nāri bikānī। āphūṁ bhareṁ ḍom ghar pānī॥ Taise Nal par daśā sirānī। bhūṁjī-mīn kūd gaī pānī॥

Meaning: King Harishchandra’s wife was sold, and he had to serve in a lowly house. Similarly, King Nala suffered, and a roasted fish jumped back into water during his hard times.

श्री शंकरहिं गह्यो जब जाई। पारवती को सती कराई॥ तनिक वोलोकत ही करि रीसा। नभ उड़ि गयो गौरिसुत सीसा॥

Transliteration: Śrī Śaṅkarahiṁ gahyo jab jāī। Pārvatī ko satī karāī॥ Tanik volokat hī kari rīsā। nabh uḍi gayo Gaurisut sīsā॥

Meaning: When you affected Lord Shiva, Parvati became Sati. With a mere glance, you caused Ganesha’s head to fly off into the sky.

पाण्डव पर भै दशा तुम्हारी। बची द्रौपदी होति उघारी॥ कौरव के भी गति मति मारयो। युद्ध महाभारत करि डारयो॥

Transliteration: Pāṇḍav par bhai daśā tumhārī। bachi Draupadī hoti ughārī॥ Kaurav ke bhī gati mati māryo। yuddh Mahābhārat kari ḍāryo॥

Meaning: When your period befell the Pandavas, Draupadi was nearly disrobed. You also influenced the Kauravas, causing the Mahabharata war.

रवि कहँ मुख महँ धरि तत्काला। लेकर कूदि परयो पाताला॥ शेष देव-लखि विनति लाई। रवि को मुख ते दियो छुड़ाई॥

Transliteration: Ravi kahṁ mukh mahṁ dhari tatkālā। lekar kūdi paryo pātālā॥ Śeṣa dev-lakhi vinati lāī। Ravi ko mukh te diyo chuṛāī॥

Meaning: You swallowed the Sun and jumped into the netherworld. On Shesha’s request, you released the Sun from your mouth.

वाहन प्रभु के सात सुजाना। जग दिग्गज गर्दभ मृग स्वाना॥ जम्बुक सिंह आदि नख धारी। सो फल ज्योतिष कहत पुकारी॥

Transliteration: Vāhan prabhu ke sāt sujānā। jag diggaj gardabh mṛg swānā॥ Jambuk siṁh ādi nakh dhārī। so phal jyotiṣ kahat pukārī॥

Meaning: You have seven vehicles: elephant, donkey, deer, dog, jackal, lion, and vulture. Astrologers declare that each brings different results.

गज वाहन लक्ष्मी गृह आवैं। हय ते सुख सम्पत्ति उपजावैं॥ गर्दभ हानि करै बहु काजा। सिंह सिद्धकर राज समाजा॥

Transliteration: Gaj vāhan Lakṣmī gṛh āvaiṁ। hay te sukh sampatti upjāvaiṁ॥ Gardabh hāni karai bahu kājā। siṁh siddhakar rāj samājā॥

Meaning: When you ride the elephant, Lakshmi enters the home. The horse brings happiness and prosperity. The donkey brings loss, while the lion brings success and royal favor.

जम्बुक बुद्धि नष्ट कर डारै। मृग दे कष्ट प्राण संहारै॥ जब आवहिं प्रभु स्वान सवारी। चोरी आदि होय डर भारी॥

Transliteration: Jambuk buddhi naṣṭ kar ḍārai। mṛg de kaṣṭ prāṇ saṁhārai॥ Jab āvahiṁ prabhu swān sawārī। chorī ādi hoy ḍar bhārī॥

Meaning: When you ride the jackal, intelligence is lost; the deer brings suffering and death. When you ride the dog, there is fear of theft and other troubles.

तैसहि चारी चरण यह नामा। स्वर्ण लौह चाँदि अरु तामा॥ लौह चरण पर जब प्रभु आवैं। धन जन सम्पत्ति नष्ट करावैं॥

Transliteration: Taisahi chārī charaṇ yah nāmā। svarṇ lauha chāndi aru tāmā॥ Lauha charaṇ par jab prabhu āvaiṁ। dhan jan sampatti naṣṭ karāvaiṁ॥

Meaning: You have four forms of feet: gold, iron, silver, and copper. When you arrive with iron feet, wealth and prosperity are destroyed.

समता ताम्र रजत शुभकारी। स्वर्ण सर्व सुख मंगल भारी॥ जो यह शनि चरित्र नित गावै। कबहुं न दशा निकृष्ट सतावै॥

Transliteration: Samta tāmra rajat śubhkārī। svarṇ sarv sukh maṅgal bhārī॥ Jo yah Śani charitra nit gāvai। kabhūṁ na daśā nikṛṣṭ satāvai॥

Meaning: Copper and silver feet bring good fortune, and gold brings all happiness and auspiciousness. Whoever recites this story of Shani daily is never troubled by a bad period.

अद्भुत नाथ दिखावैं लीला। करैं शत्रु के नशिब बलि ढीला॥ जो पण्डित सुयोग्य बुलवाई। विधिवत शनि ग्रह शांति कराई॥

Transliteration: Adbhut nāth dikhāvaiṁ līlā। karaiṁ śatru ke nasib bali ḍhīlā॥ Jo paṇḍit suyogya bulvāī। vidhivat Śani grah śānti karāī॥

Meaning: O wondrous Lord, you perform amazing deeds and weaken the fortune of enemies. Those who call a learned priest and perform Shani’s peace rituals properly are blessed.

पीपल जल शनि दिवस चढ़ावत। दीप दान दै बहु सुख पावत॥ कहत राम सुन्दर प्रभु दासा। शनि सुमिरत सुख होत प्रकाशा॥

Transliteration: Pīpal jal Śani divas chaḍhāvat। dīp dān dai bahu sukh pāvat॥ Kahat Rām Sundar prabhu dāsā। Śani sumirat sukh hot prakāśā॥

Meaning: Offering water to the peepal tree and lighting lamps on Shani’s day brings much happiness. Ram Sundar, the devotee, says: remembering Shani brings joy and light.
