Tilak tripund bhaal man bhaavan॥

With a curved trunk and pure, beautiful tusk,
You wear a sacred tilak and three lines on your forehead, pleasing to the mind.

राजत मणि मुकुटन उर माला।
स्वर्ण मुकुट शिर नयन विशाल॥

Transliteration:
Rajat mani mukutan ur maala।
Swarn mukut shir nayan vishaal॥

Adorned with a jeweled crown and garland on your chest,
A golden crown on your head and large, radiant eyes.

पुस्तक पाणि कुठार त्रिशूलन।
मोदक भोग सुगंधित फूलन॥

Transliteration:
Pustak paani kuthar trishoolan।
Modak bhog sugandhit phoolan॥

You are offered modak sweets and fragrant flowers.

सुंदर पीताम्बर तन साजित।
चरण पादुका मुनि मन राजित॥

एक समय गिरिराज कुमारी।
पुत्र हेतु तप कीन्हा भारी॥

Ek samay Giriraj Kumari।

भयो यज्ञ जब पूर्ण अनूपा।
तब पहुँचे तुम धरी द्विज रूपा॥

You arrived there in the form of a Brahmin.

अतिथि जानि के गौरी सुखारी।
बहु विधि सेवा करी तुम्हारी॥

Atithi jaani ke Gauri sukhari।
Bahu vidhi seva kari tumhari॥

Served you in many ways.

अति प्रसन्न ह्वै वर तुम दीन्हा।
मातु पुत्र हित तप फल लीन्हा॥

Ati prasann hvai var tum dinha।
Maatu putra hit tap phal linha॥

Highly pleased, you granted her a boon,
And gave her the fruit of her penance—a son.

भयो बालक जब पूर्ण अनूपा।
तब पधार्यो तुम धरी द्विज रूपा॥

Bhayo baalak jab poorn anoopa।
Tab padharyo tum dhari dwij roopa॥

When the beautiful child was born,
You again arrived in the form of a Brahmin.

अन्न प्राशन विधि जब कराई।
चंद्रहार भूषण पहिराई॥

Transliteration:
Ann prashan vidhi jab karaai।
Chandrahaar bhushan pahirai॥

You adorned him with a moon-shaped necklace.

बालक देखन चाहत नाहीं।
गिरिजा कहु मन भेद बढ़ाई॥

Baalk dekhna chahat naahin।
Girija kahu man bhed badhaayi॥

उत्सव मोरे, न शनि तुही भायो।
कहल लगे शनि, मन सकुचायो॥

Utsav more, na shani tuhi bhaayo।
Kahal lage shani, man sakuchaayo॥

When asked, Shani hesitated and felt embarrassed.

का करिहि, शिशु मोहि दिखाय।
नहि विश्वास, उमासु भाय॥

Ka karihi, shishu mohi dikhay।
Nahi vishwas, Umasu bhaay॥

She did not believe Shani’s hesitation.

शनि दृग पाति बालक सिर उड़ी गयो।
गिरिजा गिरी विकल भई॥

And Parvati (Girija) fainted in distress.

शोर भयो सुर मुनि तब आये।

शिव आज्ञा तब सिर पुनि जोड़ा।

And the child’s beautiful body was restored.

गज सिर धरि बालक उठायो।
नाम गणेश शिव मुख कहायो॥
